2011 Asian Winter Games honored with stamps

The Kazakh post has issued a series of stamps commemorating the 7th Asian Winter Games which will be held in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan from 30 of January to 6 of February 2011.

19 Nations and 550 athletes will take part in 11 sport competitions containing alpine skiing, bandy, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, short track speed skating, ski jumping, ski orientating and speed skating. The Government of Kazakhstan allocated much for construction and renovation of the sports facilities for the games, including the Medeo skating and bandy rink and the Shymbulak skating area to the south east of the city.

The stamps illustrate the emblem of the 7th Asian Winter Games, ski jumping, figure skating and freestyle skiing.
